It doesn’t matter whether you have a lot of weight to get rid of, or whether you are just trying to get back down one or two sizes. If you want to lose body fat then make up your mind and do it.

Finding the Right Program to Lose Body Fat

There are a million different programs out there that will promise to help you lose body fat. Which program is right for you depends on whether you are male or female (because we are built differently), what area of the body is being targeted for fat loss, and how much total weight is intended to be lost. Doing a quick search on the internet for “weight loss for women” or “ab exercises for men” will produce multiple results for you to investigate further.

Find more information on how to lose body fat by visiting your local library after searching the internet and check out a book for free to see if it is a program that will work with you and your schedule. Another resource is your local Barnes and Noble bookstore which will have a section for weight loss and how to lose body fat and will allow you to read through as many books as you want for free.

You should never begin a program in order to lose body fat unless you are motivated to stick with it until you see some results. Quitting too soon will lead to frustration and your goal to lose body fat will quickly end at the first sign of a delicious dessert.

The Healthy Way to Lose Body Fat

Finding a healthy way to lose body fat is not only good for you and your overall wellness, but it will also make you feel more confident which affects other areas of your life. Diets that promote they will help you lose body fat quickly should throw up an immediate red flag in your mind. The healthy way to lose body fat is to get back to basics and just eat right. If you find you do not have the self-control to say no then give yourself a reason to stick to the program. Rewarding yourself in some way at the end of each week or month is a good way to make sure you stick to your plan to lose body fat. It also helps to have others that you trust hold you accountable for staying on target. Psychologically knowing that you will let someone else down to quit your program is often enough motivation to stay the course.

Remember there is no quick fix to lose body fat, but with a healthy diet and light exercise like walking or stair climbing you will begin to feel better and then it is only a matter of time before you are able to lose body fat. Developing an eating routine will help you lose body fat by cutting out late night snacks. Evaluate yourself and the times of day you tend to snack, and make sure you are busy during those times by reading a book, or exercising. Sometimes the best thing to do is go to bed early rather than succumb to a late night eating binge.

If all else fails and you are simply unable to stick to a program or curb the cravings for sweets you may have another problem know as yeast overgrowth. Yeast is a naturally occurring substance in the body but it is generally held in check by your body’s healthy bacteria. If you have taken antibiotics or birth control pills in the past it is possible that your body was depleted of this “healthy bacteria” which allows the yeast in your system to overgrow. Yeast has been linked to many different problems such and depression, headaches, joint pain, and more commonly been known to cause sugar cravings. Yeast feeds off the sugar in your body and if you haven’t been able to control the cravings you have in order to lose body fat you may need to implement a cleansing yeast diet as a first step. You can find more information on the yeast diet and links to resources from our resources page.

The Difference between Fat and Muscle

Understanding the difference between muscle and fat may help in your effort to lose body fat. It is a common misconception that you can turn fat into muscle- this simply is not true. Fat and muscle are two very different things so when you are trying to lose body fat an aerobic exercise or conditioning will help you burn calories which in turn will help shrink the existing fat your body has stored for you. If you burn more calories than you take in you will lose body fat plain and simple. Unfortunately you cannot choose where you lose body fat as the fat cells act as one.

Muscle contrary to fat is made up of fibers that grow in size and density based on the amount of activity or stress placed on them. Taking in more or fewer calories does not make your muscles grow or shrink but the activity or stress you put on your muscles will determine their growth. Muscle gain will cause more calories to be burned by your body naturally which will in turn help you lose body fat. Muscle can also be targeted to certain areas of the body based upon the focus of your workout or which muscles are used or “stressed” enough through daily activity. Fat can hide the muscle you may already have on your abs or arms so that when you lose body fat in these areas it may reveal the muscles that you never knew were already there.

Working out in order to gain muscle at the same time as you work to lose body fat is helpful because muscle naturally burns calories and the workout will burn calories as well. By decreasing calorie intake and increasing the amount of calories you burn each day you will begin to feel better about your health and ultimately accomplish your goal to lose body fat.
